ECM - The concept of dissociation in psychopathology
Scientific Director: Dott. Emanuela Atzori
Topics covered
The course examines the concept of “dissociation” in psychopathology, currently considered in the literature as a complex reaction to an external trauma in a previously normal person, or as a condition of vulnerability characteristic of the person that increases the possibility of its occurrence.
The course proposes: an analysis of the cultural-historical background that has led to the modern classification systems of so-called “dissociative disorders“; an assessment of the impact that dissociative disorders can have in developmental age and their relationship to specific psychopathological pictures; the relationship between Dissociative Disorders and various psychopathological frameworks in adulthood such as SUDs (Substance Use Disorders), Eating Disorders, various forms of sensation seeking (including compulsive cutting and video gaming) and, finally, Dysmorphia.
