News reports continue to recount tragic stories in which women are victims of violence. In most cases, the perpetrator is someone with whom the victim had or still has an emotional relationship. Often, early warning signs can be identified—signals the woman may have sensed before the violence became physical. There is, in fact, a form of awareness capable of perceiving a latent, invisible violence present in the other.
