It is an accurate book, written by experts – psychiatrists, neurologists, psychotherapists, journalists – about hot social realities and recent events. By recalling news events, it investigates the abuse on infants and children: an ancient drama, which we continue to witness even in contemporary society and which we often perceive as incomprehensible or not believable. A subtle and shocking violence which suddenly shows up revealing a pathological psychic reality for which a flawless father forgets his child in the car under the sun causing his death ( Or like the unnatural one of a murderer mother).
Mental health specialists affirmed that similar events could happen to anyone: this approach – which has a concept of mental illness as its theoretical assumption – of Evil always present inside human beings ready to suddenly explode – is however a negative legacy that has always conditioned the research on mental reality.
These interpretations throw into discomfort those who are stunned to learn of these tragedies without grasping their genesis and meaning, during an era in which pain – unfortunately – is even more turned into a show. It must be said, then, that such dramatic cases open merciless glimpses on the unconscious mind, on an invisible world that hides an abnormal and pathological relationship with psychic reality: a relationship whereby a child becomes an object forgotten in the car or in the office … We are therefore pushed to seek a “cure” which would be the hope of change towards a world where childhood would be no longer attacked and oppressed by the “evil” of some adults.
